Hand-printed lino print of hibernating hedgehogs - in a deep, energy-saving sleep. Hedgehogs sleep roughly October to April, slowing heart rate and body temperature to survive winter when food (insects, worms) is scarce. They build insulated nests  from leaves in quiet spots like log piles, compost heaps, or sheds. Be careful not to disturb them as it uses vital fat reserves, though they might move nests or wake briefly in mild spells.
